Below is a list of corrections to the first edition. For a PDF version of the list, click here.

Five diagrams were changed for the second edition. 87-1 and 94-8 had errors which precluded the intended solution.

page 31, left column,
third paragraph

The note in parentheses should be: (shielding the rook from the black bishop).

page 35, right column

Black’s 9th move should be 9...Kc2.
page 80, left column 
Black’s first move should be 1...Kd7 (not 1...Ke7).
The note in parentheses after 2.Qxg7? should be: (planning Bb2 and Rd1).
The sentence after 2...Rag8! should be: The queen is lost since 3.Qxf6 allows 3...Qxg2# (2...Rhg8? 3.e4!).

page 83, left column 
The line given after 3.Nh6+ Kg7 should begin with 4.Nxf7?! Rxf7.

There should be no white queen on d1.

Add a black pawn on g6 and remove h7. Place a white pawn on h3 instead of h2. This change eliminates a defence by 1.Qg6 Bg5!
