Canada Type News | January 2007
Font Releases:
-Serena: Serena embodies the peace and calm rarely ever found in mainstream calligraphy or other genres of display type. With upright elegance and a slight Eastern touch, this typeface expertly bridges the gracefully casual with the deeply spiritual. The light and soft letter forms add a pleasant, breezy element to anything they touch. When used sparingly in titling or display, Serena is like a sigh of desire, rare but quite memorable and very appreciated. By Hans van Maanen, based on 67 year old Stefan Schlesinger drawings to cap up an inspiring lost-and-found type story.
-Redwood: Redwood is the fresh and lively digitization of the popular ATF landmark, Raleigh Cursive. Drawn by Willard Sniffin in 1929, and introduced by ATF in 1930, this classic script is prominently featured in almost every published type history book, and proudly listed among every letterpress printer's type assets. Redwood's unique calligraphy is complemented with a set of swash capitals unlike any others out there. Strength, grace and elegance rarely ever combine the way they do in this typeface.
January 2007 Notes:
- Happy new year to all! People like you have made 2006 our most successful year to date, and we really, really appreciate your enthusiasm about our work. We hope to remain up to the standards of our customers, and we promise to keep working hard for as long as we can to provide you with the best fonts you can use.
- Five of our popular font packages have undergone a major upgrade, and now contain support for Central and Eastern European languages, as well as Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish and Baltic. The fonts are: Collector Comic, Evolver, Johnny, Quanta, and Rawhide. The extended character set upgrade doesn't affect the pricing of the fonts, and as always with Canada Type, people who licensed previous versions of any of these fonts receive the latest upgrades at no charge. Look for more character set upgrades of many more of our existing fonts throughout the year.
- Swan Song was named best calligraphic font and best font of the year 2006 by our favorite online distributor MyFonts. Many tears of joy flowed here when the news arrived. Once again much thanks to everyone who bought it and found it useful in their design work.
Thanks for visiting with Canada Type, and see you again in February.
