Canada Type News | April 2008

Font Releases:

-Luminari: Philip Bouwsma practically lived the Middle Ages for a few months to make this historic typeface. Luminari traces the timeline, like only Bouwsma can, between five centuries of calligraphic influences, from the ninth century Carolingian to the fifteenth century humanist book hand. The result: Your ultimate pub font. Iechyd da!

-Teaspoon: Ironic cute? Sure. Like a two-year old pointing to the moon and saying she wants it. You've probably already caught on to the fat face revival trend of 2008, right on the heels of the retro trend of the past few years. Haley Fiege's Teaspoon seamlessly transitions between both trends to become the ultimate fashion statement of today.

-Bigfoot: What started as a simple exercise for design students became the fattest font ever made. The method: Start the process backwards. Instead of drawing a letter onto white space, chunk it out of black space as minimally as possible.
